We are a husband-and-wife team behind Arboretum with a lifelong dream to put up a "business for good", one that inspires and drives social change in the community.
Knowing that the actions we take can make a difference to others, we advocate for single mothers and breadwinners to be our employees, empowering them with outstanding skills and stable employment in order to support themselves and their family in the long term.

At the Arboretum Nail Salon, we have created a safe space dedicated to empowering single mothers and breadwinners through employment. Here, we provide vocational training and opportunities for women who face challenges in the workforce such as discrimination due to religion or socioeconomic status, lack of opportunities for higher paying jobs, childcare responsibilities as single mothers, and financial instability as primary breadwinners for their families.
We nurture these women and oversee their health & well-being, providing them a supportive, stable and welcoming environment where they can hone their skills, build their careers, work while having fun, and be the best version of themselves.
In parallel with how we take care of our clients, we use products that will never be harmful to our employees. We only use non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free nail care products that are good for our clients, our employees and the environment. Were committed to providing them with above average benefits and stable employment.

Even with her own struggles in life, she has never failed to provide leadership and guidance to our team of nail wellness technicians every day.
Lovely
A single mother of three, Lovely's boundless energy allows her to juggle her regular work at the Arboretum and her unwavering commitment to her kids. She tries her best to never miss a school activity, a parent-teacher conference or a medical check-up, no matter what. Her dedication also shows itself in the top-notch quality of her work at our nail salon.
Cathy
Cathy puts her heart into every gel polish and nail design she does, always striving for perfection. Life hasn’t been easy for her—she worked multiple jobs to get to where she is today, never letting financial struggles define her or limit her dreams. Despite everything she’s been through, Cathy remains soft-spoken, kind, and incredibly gentle with everyone she meets. Her talent, perseverance, and warm nature make her an irreplaceable part of the team.
Jersey
Arboretum's resident talk show host, singer and stand-up comedian is also a single mother who raised two children through hardwork and determination. She is the caretaker of her ailing father and an avid supporter of her own grandchildren (she's still young, though). Despite her own struggles and concerns in life, she always arrives at work with her baon of jokes and pranks, and her can-do attitude.
Menjie
Menjie has been through more than most, but you’d never hear her complain. She’s a mother of two, and every day, she shows up with one goal: to give her kids a better life. As the breadwinner of her family, she works hard without ever losing her gentle, caring nature. Her quiet strength, steady hands, and deep love for her children are what make her such a valued part of Arboretum. You can feel the heart she puts into every service—and that’s what our clients remember most.
Dani
Dani may be the youngest on our team, but she’s full of fire. Her booming voice and big laugh bring life to the salon, and her energy is contagious. But behind her bright personality is a story of strength—she’s raising her daughter on her own and has faced more than her fair share of struggles. Still, she shows up every day with heart, hustle, and a passion for her work that shines through. Dani reminds us that even when life gets tough, there’s always room for joy.
